The database is being created primarily to provide source material for the development of language corpora and other linguistic applications based on rap (hip-hop) music texts. Since 2009, it has primarily focused on Francophone works; since 2024, it has been gradually expanded to include other languages, starting with Czech. It documents artists (biographical data) and their works (usually albums and singles), which are recorded in the form of metadata (bibliographic information) and digitized representations (most often CDs). Song lyrics are analyzed and edited into a format suitable for corpus and lexicographical processing.

The database forms part of the Digitalia MUNI ARTS research infrastructure, and the LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ project (a major research infrastructure funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, LM2018101) also contributed to its creation.

The database provides open access to content, partially restricted access. You can browse or search the content. More detailed information about the content and features of the database can be found in the help section.
